Crafted in Surat
Made by skilled artisans in Surat, Gujarat, where Javeri House is rooted.
Description
A five-petal flower is cast in sterling silver and stitched into a band of hand-woven cotton thread. Each petal is cut with fine radiating lines and the recesses are oxidised, so the pattern holds dark against the ridges between them. A raised boss closes the centre.
The band is worked in red thread with a run of yellow through the middle and yellow bindings at the two rings, and the ends are left long to tie. The back of the flower is domed and plain, so nothing catches on the wrist.
Tied rather than clasped, it draws to any wrist and can be knotted short or left to hang. Made in Surat in the rakhi form, the thread tied at Raksha Bandhan.
